@druid@toot.walesI'm sad to see that our local town is on the list of #Santander #bank branch closures. Barclays also closed their branch last year. Banks say "use the post office instead", but most of those have closed too. I'm lucky that it doesn't affect me much but I feel bad for people that rely on them, especially the elderly.

I've just gone down our town's High Street with Google Streetview as it was in 2008. OMG. So many banks and nice shops have closed since. The town was bustling with people. It's really sad to see.

I love when they tell me to use the decrepit and chronically understaffed post office, because if I want to pay money in I have to have a paying in book.
They don't send them out anymore so I'd have to ask for one and wait for it while I'm trying to get cash *into* the bank. Genius.
@druid husband's parents live in a town that used to have three banks; now it has none.
@druid Whenever I see any shops I wonder how they pay the bills. The amounts of money involved are astronomical and I can't see how it's ever a viable setup. The overheads are mental!
