The allotment is looking good considering how hot and dry it has been; broad beans (Bartek) and the tall-growing peas (Alderman) are taking off nicely. (See alt text). The ridged ground is where the second early potatoes are planted but they are not through yet. They are Wilja, Nadine and Acoustic.
The onions and garlic are also on schedule (out of shot).
Heartfelt thanks to my wife, who is doing all the hard work this year due to my poor health.

@elbowcrooker really looking nice!
@elbowcrooker I hope your health improves soon. In the meantime your plot is in good hands. It has been an exceptionally dry spring here which throws up its challenges.
@Broadfork
Thank you for your kind words. The weather here is now cooler because the wind is in the north but it is staying dry for at least the next six days.
Luckily our plot has a nearby water supply, should it be needed.
@elbowcrooker I was planting out yesterday early evening after it had cooled off. I was surprised how much moisture there was in the soil a couple of inches down.
@Mactonex
Thanks for your response. Yes, there is moisture down there, which is why I'm reluctant to water; I'd rather the roots of our young plants went downwards and not towards the surface. Of course, newly planted items still have to be properly watered-in.
