Here's a #postcard of the University of #Manitoba - its the Engineering and Architecture buildings, or at least it was when the card was published. Manitoba started as a federal university in 1877, awarding degrees for three denominational colleges; it became a teaching institution in 1900. (This follows the pattern of the University of London: the Victorians did like a federal university)
