- I am once again befuddled by Friendica vs HubZilla.

I want to play with a Facebook-like Web service where I can allow users to post long and short things, pictures and videos, create groups and events, and follow Mastodon, accounts etc. Does anyone have any insight into the best of the two options wrt having those services but also bringing in federated content?

And why not have a vote while we are at it. Do you have a preference?

I really needed to have tagged and in my previous, if you're seeing this, please see post immediately before this one in this thread.

@jaz
has a delete & redraft option, no??

@tqt yeh, but then I'd lose the poll data I think. 🤷

@jaz
I voted Hubzilla because it has even less hubs/nodes and users that Friendica. I think they're both very nice though.

@jaz I wrote a super in-depth review several years ago of Hubzilla: https://wedistribute.org/2018/02/the-do-everything-system-an-in-depth-review-of-hubzilla-3-0/

While both options are ostensibly fine for online communities, Hubzilla is more geared towards a "private federated cloud" with a PIM suite and webpage builder and loads of additional features. It's like Diaspora and Drupal and NextCloud all got drunk and had a baby.

@sean thanks for the link, and thanks also for the giggle I got from "It's like Diaspora and Drupal and NextCloud all got drunk and had a baby."

@jaz Friendica is far more user friendly than Hubzilla IMHO. Hubzilla is super powerful but too many options.
