Outside, people are out and about chilling and having fun. It's warm. I love Europe. Used to belong to me too and the idiots took it away.
Don't think I'll ever forgive that.
@llamasoft_ox Well MAYBE "with some years of labour" now there could be a possibility of rejoin in the future ?
@gilesgoat heh, starmer is saying "not in my lifetime" :(
Honestly if it weren't for the sheep I'd be saying let's fuck off to your place.
@llamasoft_ox @gilesgoat to be fair it’s not just Starmer saying that. Lots of “experts” have repeatedly said that, even with the will to rejoin the EU, it would take at least twenty years to happen
@witewulf @llamasoft_ox How did they fuck up SO badly for taking 20 years ? To go through all the "acceptance" process again ? I mean would you be "a totally new country" but "you been in EU already" ?
@gilesgoat @witewulf @llamasoft_ox We wasted everyone’s time for years with negotiations and renegotiations, putting our stupidest and worst people forward, just to fulfil what little we have now, costing us and them a ton of GDP in the process. It’ll take years to rebuild trust.
@llamasoft_ox @gilesgoat There’s a logical response to “not in my lifetime”
@cyberspice @llamasoft_ox Which is as someone said "because the process it's going to take so many N years to rejoin that I'll be dead by that time ?" .. so why considering UK already been a member has to take so many years ?
@gilesgoat @cyberspice @llamasoft_ox Part of the problem is that politically, it needs to be done gradually. If you rock up as the new Prime Minister and announce that we're rejoining tomorrow, that's going to look bad. If it's in the manifesto, you're setting yourself up for losing lots of votes (look what happened when the Lib Dems tried that - and we hadn't even left at that point). I think the only way of doing it which isn't going to cause a massive storm, is to gradually get closer ties, stop diverging from EU rules, maybe sneak in a "we're going to rejoin the common market to help the economy/stop the craziness with the EU land border in Ireland", then have another referendum to rejoin the EU. That's going to take years, and you can't really start tomorrow as it looks like you're immediately reversing a change that was voted for. So they need to at least wait a year or so, and maybe if the appetite has changed they can do something more significant in the next term.
@llamasoft_ox BTW writing a "review" on the forum about the movies I just saw
@llamasoft_ox With Meloni and the like and how is going on now, trust me, it's NOT "such a nice place to be" even trying to ignore all that is around. Italy is full of "many weird things" that make the day to day life there .. complicated .. I dare to say "if you want to move let's move to Parintins/Brasil" .. Italy has many nice things .. except the politics, the laws, the bureaucracy, the "too many everyday things that don't go as they should" it's tough even for who is born there like me.
