I am sure this is evident to many but I simply do not understand fashion. I'm still reeling from the report into Burberry a couple of years ago, that revealed they burn £30million in stock every year to protect resale price drop, artificially inflating the value. Apparently extremely common, with all fashion houses doing it. Billions of pounds of clothes burned to keep people buying their products at a higher price point. It was one of the most profoundly grotesque things I'd ever heard. Imagine the resources that went into creating those clothes. Imagine the damage done to the environment by burning them. Imagine what a colossal waste it is on a planet where people die because they don't have enough to eat. It makes me very very angry. But take all of that out of the equation........ Who the fucking fuck is buying Burberry clothes? It's just one pattern! What is happening I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. It's one awful tartan pattern repeated over and over again. Infinite nans curtains. If you buy Burberry I will not respect you. Anyone who spends £300 on a bucket hat that looks like a stupid piece of shit from one of the most evil brands on the planet, is an absolute fool. (sorry I just saw a Burberry advert)

@llamasoft_ox @TheBreadmonkey I watched a YouTube video made by a man who does leather work in the Netherlands (or maybe Ireland?) somewhere.

He got ahold of a bunch of slashed Louis Vuitton bags and he was taking them apart and making new stuff out of them. He wasn’t selling them as “Louis Vuitton” wallets, and if I remember correctly he wasn’t even using the logo parts where it would be seen by anyone except the owner of the wallet.

They sent AGENTS to his home to inspect his “counterfeit operation”. He won whatever battle he had to fight with them but it took a long time and he was seriously worried they were going to sue him and take his home or something.

He won because he wasn’t replicating their stuff, he wasn’t using their logos, and he wasn’t advertising his products using their name. Nothing he made it was a knock off because it was his own design made from scraps from the dumpster.
