Ok - hate on me.. I'm still in #Twitter because I have some legit pals over there...
I went through and curated my feed after years of accumulated #f4f fodder. And - it's not nearly as toxic! Shocker I know...
And I learned this form my foray into #Mastodon - You just need the RIGHT interactions..
..of course the bird is still trying to drag me into #algos, but they aren't as bad since me feed is cleaner.
So if you can't quit your pals completely you can improve your bird UX with curation
@multiverseofbadness that’s how I have to use Twitter. With Hive seemingly going belly up my only option for most of my friends is twitter. Of course my page is a lean, mean list of about 370 followers and such.
@multiverseofbadness I'm still on Twitter. I've been there for more than a year. I've never had an unpleasant interaction there.
You just have to learn the two simple steps for dealing with people who are likely to make you upset or angry, or are likely to become tedious. Remove from followers' list. Mute.
And don't follow people back unless you think you're going to enjoy engaging with them.
If you take those precautions social media is great fun. If you don't the it becomes a nightmare.
