For this week, something I haven't seen for years - Wild Daffodil. It's really unusual to find them growing in woodlands in the UK. This was at the reserve at where they put up a sign to advise visitors that these are wild daffodils left here from before the lakes were dug.

Here in Western #Oregon, #daffodils are often indicative of old homestead sites. Moles don't eat them, but they move the bulbs and help spread them about. They really propagate over the decades. I moved the ones in deep shade from here to my sunny garden.

@jqjacobs We get something similar in the UK. Daffodils in a woodland, particularly the larger types, often mean it's a relatively new woodland which has grown up somewhere that was once part of a managed garden or park. The wild species are only found in properly ancient woodlands; they do spread, but only very slowly and even most ancient woodlands here don't have them.
