Folks who might be looking to move from Windows to Linux: another option, if it’s financially feasible for you and you don’t want to mess with installing Linux, is to sell your Windows machine and buy a Linux one.
Yep, they exist.
Folks like @starlabs in the UK, @tuxedocomputers in the EU, and @system76 in the US sell Linux machines that just work out of the box.
@aral
Also Pinebook Pro for a basic laptop. Only in US I think but I imported mine to UK without to much expense or hassle.
@starlabs @tuxedocomputers @system76 @tanquist
@pthane @starlabs @tuxedocomputers @system76 @tanquist Yeah. Sadly, the HDMI out on mine never worked properly.
@aral
Never even tried mine I just use the built-in screen. Mostly I just use it when out on my canal boat. It's light, small, doesn't use much power and is perfectly adequate for email, web and blogging the trip.

@pthane @aral @starlabs @tuxedocomputers @system76 @tanquist I bought mine in the UK, and it was just a bit of shipping-from-china customs fees to get it landed. They're very much stock parts slapped together, so not for the faint-hearted.
Alas, I use mine for @postmarketOS, and they recently dropped support for it, so I won't get any new kernels in the future. It's a nice lab machine, but hardware support determines future security patching. You may have better luck with the distribution it ships with.
