It is even worse - bottle and cap are from different material, so you need to separate them before recycling.
Most of the time I rip off the cap anyway, because it's the only way to drink from bottle withou hurting myself or spilling some water on me.
I am not saying all EU laws are bad, but this one is just plain stupid.

Funnily, I can get some things in UK cheaper and better than in Germany, a vegetable peeler is an example that springs to mind. And the NHS, though paired to the bone, is still a lot more efficient than the equivalent bloated insurance system we have here. Ideally somewhere in the middle, I'm thinking.

Yeah, it's not enough to make me move back for sure! I was just a little surprised.

I have not, but it wouldn't surprise me *shakes head*
@econads
I keep trying to explain to Tories here that if you have an insurance company funded health system your taxes/contributions now have to pay thousands of financial service staff and dividends and bonuses on top of the actual medical costs. So either you end up paying more or the services will decline.

And the nation-sized NHS has huge benefits when it comes to things like negotiating on drugs. They can put in an order for millions of units and companies will take a lower per-unit price for the security of the huge order.
I was told by a Swiss doctor on a train that the system here is better because of the huge medical lobby: it will never be underfunded like in UK, which is a point of view certainly.
