Finally warmed up and snowed overnight. About 1" / 2.5cm fell. It's a nice change from the cold (15⁰F/-9.5⁰C) and wind from the north (gusting to 45mph/73kph ; steady at 25mph / 40kph) that we've had for the last few days. All is calm and quiet now, except for the people using leaf blowers to clear their sidewalks! Here's a picture from this morning of one of my wildlife habitat log piles.

@richrollgardener @gardening It’s always good to see you’ve provided your wildlife with a bit of extra habitat for wintering.
I’m not jealous of the cold . We’ve had nights down to -6°C and barely got above freezing in the day but thankfully it’s been dry and now we’re back to a bit more warmth (4-8°C).
@Broadfork @gardening When I was a young man, I lived near Saranac Lake, NY. In the winter there, it was not unusual to see -40⁰ F/C temps in the winter and I wasn't bothered. Now I mind the cold a lot more and wish for spring. Here's me in 1968 taking a forestry course in land surveying. In January, in a blizzard.
@richrollgardener @gardening Good pic. I guess it’s unusual to work in that weather.
You could probably still cope alright but you’ve got attuned to the less chilly climate of New England.
I’ve never liked the cold and the cold I’m talking about is nothing like yours. I didn’t mind playing sport or being out cycling in it though. I’m not so keen a winter cyclist now.
I don’t enjoy temperatures in the 30°C’s unless I’m on holiday either.
I’m very much at home in our temperate UK climate.
