Me: No, Linux is too mainstream and easy. I run UNIX on an Advanced RISC Machine
Also me: running macOS on my M1 MacBook Pro which technically qualifies for the above description
@LilahTovMoon thanks for capturing what seems to be a common apparent mindset dilemma or opportunity.
That ‘oh I find <insert name of software> very handy and fulfilling on macOS’ and also ‘but wait, that’s not the whole picture!’
(My first day-to-day Unix experience was on the High Level Hardware Orion which could dynamically swap between multiple soft-microcoded instruction sets—work used a Prolog-targeted instruction set.)
