Installed on my friend's laptop last night.

@davidoclubb I’m thinking about giving this distro a try now. I was running ubuntu on my Toshiba but when that failed (broken screen) I tried to install ubuntu on my new acer but it didn’t want to know. I’ll give a try from a usb stick. Anything I might want to be aware of first? Diolch

@yogi0704 If you're happy with Ubuntu it won't be too big a jump. Use the software centre and enable the relevant repositories and you should find you've got access to most (if not all) the things you were comfortable with on ubuntu

Good luck, and let me know how you find it!

@davidoclubb I'm very much hoping the Steamdeck will lead to many, many more.

@davidoclubb FOSS has become far more normal since I started messing with it in the late 00s. Linux distros have matured a great deal too. It’s exciting. Just need more OEMs preinstalling it.

@davidoclubb I've never tried that one. I'll have to give it a go sometime. I moved to several years ago and moved my partner's and father-in-law's laptops soon after. Both were amazed how their aging laptops became like brand new again. I often get the impression that the Linux community look down on Mint as something 'just for beginners'. As far as I know, there's nothing you can't do on Mint that you can do with other Debian based distros. I use RedHat at work and that's good too.
