My partner managed to wangle a day off on 22nd July (as he works at a Uni and it's exam period it was looking unlikely but somehow he managed it) so we are off to the Royal Welsh!
I'm so excited. I have been in the past when I was studying / working in the agriculture sector but it has been a good 20 years or more.
My partner's never been. He asked is it the farmers' thingy? - and I was like IS IT THO!! There's animals and crafts and food and beer and tractors and solar panels and lots of whatnot and entertainment and nonsense. It's huuuuuge. (I put in beer so that he'd be interested. )
There are dancing JCB diggers! Sheepdog trials! Horse and buggy displays! Shearing competitions! Enormous food tents! Crafts! Sheep and cattle (and horses and pigs) shows - the sheep and to a lesser extent the cattle are where my heart lies, horses and pigs I'm meh about.
~ SHEEPS! ~
Oh and the National Wool Museum has an exhibit!
~ CAN YOU TELL I'M EXCITED? ~
@noreenblanluet Traction engines! We used to go to one near us when we were kids, I have fond memories of the smell of coal smoke, burger vans and sound of steam powered carousel music. Then there were some cows I think? Ha!
@aegir Yessss!!! Tootly toot!
What a grand day out!
A few years ago at the end of June we were on our way home from a holiday in Dolgellau. We got stuck behind 2 HUGE logs being hauled by 2 trucks and shepherded by a flock of police motor cyclists. Many WTFs.
Some time later we saw lumberjacks racing up them at the Royal Welsh show on the tele. They will be there for a few more years yet. So if you can get close enough give them a kick from me.
@ForgottenHero I'll look out for them!
