Editor<p><strong>Bridgend charity opens doors to public for its ‘Home from Homelessness’</strong></p><p>The event on Wednesday 4 June will be held from 10am to 2pm at the <a href="http://www.emmaus.org.uk/south-wales/join-us/volunteer/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Emmaus South Wales</a> community at Nant Lais, Bridgend. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about the charity’s work beyond its well-known second-hand shops on New Road in <a href="https://swanseabaynews.com/category/news/in-your-area/bridgend/porthcawl/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Porthcawl </a>and Trysor Cudd on Tondu Road in <a href="https://swanseabaynews.com/category/news/in-your-area/bridgend/bridgend-town/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Bridgend</a>.</p><p>As well as guided tours of the charity’s private accommodation and gardens, the day will include opportunities to meet and hear directly from people supported by the charity. Emmaus South Wales say they provide a home, support and opportunities to progress for people with experience of homelessness</p><p>Visitors will also be able to learn about the wide range of opportunities to volunteer at Emmaus South Wales, including roles in the shops, assisting with upcycling, gardening, cooking, cleaning, and even content creation.</p><p><strong>Claire Gore, Accommodation and Support Manager at Emmaus South Wales, said: </strong>“Often people who visit our shops don’t realise that many of those behind the counter are residents—individuals being supported by Emmaus as they rebuild their lives after difficult times.</p><p>“What makes Emmaus truly unique is that the people we support are provided with opportunities to develop skills and gain work experience.
