Yet Water Was :mstdnca:<p>Yesterday many of us in Langford BC lost a friend, a mentor, and an incredible community leader. Lance Caven was assistant fire chief of Langford Fire, having started as a volunteer in 1991. To be a firefighter was all he ever wanted, and he did it in spades.</p><p>As my captain he was one of my life's greatest mentors, and a good friend. He wrote the book on what a leader should be.</p><p>Lance died from pancreatic cancer. </p><p>RIP, Chief. We already miss you.</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/LangfordBC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LangfordBC</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/Firefighters" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Firefighters</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/YYJ" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>YYJ</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/Langford" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Langford</span></a></p>
