Just finished entering the data for my site for Project Feeder Watch. Week number three for the season. Data may be viewed here:
data.feederwatch.org/pfw/count
We had 21 species and 121 individuals here this week. The huge flocks of Grackles have gone away, leaving just a few individuals now. More and more Juncos are returning and it's nice to see them back. Otherwise, we just had the usual assortment of regulars.

Just finished entering data for week number two of ProjectFeederWatch. It is a source of calmness and enjoyment that seems so hard to come by these days. Anyway, we had 20 species and 119 individuals this week. The Juncos are slowly returning and the vast flock of Grackles seems to be dispersing. Here is a link to my counts this week:

The data for week number one of the 2024/25 ProjectFeederWatch for my site is now online at this link:
data.feederwatch.org/pfw/count
We had warm weather and dry conditions on both count days.Total count was 18 species and 87 individuals. We have been swamped by a HUGE flock of Grackles (~150 at times) feeding in the mornings. Used to seeing big flocks of Starlings but this many Grackles is a first for us.The smaller birds don't like it.

Now that the garden is winding down, our thoughts are turning to the next ProjectFeederWatch season, which starts in a few weeks. Here is a video of a Downy Woodpecker (Picoides pubescens) enjoying some chunky peanut butter I put out on the side of the Northern White Cedar trees (Thuja occidentalis). The woodpeckers are quite used to me being there and I can usually approach them to within a few feet (about a meter).

Just finished entering my Project Feeder Watch counts for Week number 26. Data can be viewed here:
data.feederwatch.org/pfw/count
There were 23 species and 83 individuals logged. Juncos are all gone now and the raptors have moved on. This concludes the 2023/24 count season for me so off comes the birding hat and on goes my gardening hat. See you twitchers in the fall!

Here is my data for Project Feeder Watch for Week number 25. Only one more week until the end of the season.
data.feederwatch.org/pfw/count
We had 24 species and 93 individuals this week. Lots of Gold Finches now to brighten up these gloomy days! Also saw a Grackle with two white tail feathers. Hawks mostly stayed away this week.

Here is my somewhat late bird count for Project Feeder Watch, week number 24. Data can be viewed here:
data.feederwatch.org/pfw/count
We had 23 species and 97 individuals this week and the Cooper's Hawk was around but got nothing we observed. Numbers are going down, mostly because it seems like the Starlings are disbanding and only coming in small groups now. Two more weeks to go until the end of the season.

Here is my data for Project Feeder Watch, week number 23.
data.feederwatch.org/pfw/count
We saw 23 species and 117 individuals this week. Not too thrilled about the Brown-Headed Cowbirds showing up, as they are brood parasites and give the finches a hard time. The Cooper's Hawk is still around and we saw it get a House Finch this week. Not too many weeks to go & I'll put away my Twitcher's hat and dust off my Gardener's hat.

Just entered counts for week 22 of Project Feeder Watch. The data may be viewed here:
data.feederwatch.org/pfw/count
We had 23 species made up of 105 individuals this week. The raptors are back and the Cooper's Hawk was observed predating another Junco. They've been hanging around close to the feeding area a lot lately, must have a family to feed...
A few more weeks to go this season, can't wait to see wait the next week will bring.😀

Just got done entering my site data for Project Feeder Watch, week number 21. The specific info may be viewed here:
data.feederwatch.org/pfw/count
Observed 22 species and 112 individuals this week. Higher numbers are mostly because of the 26 Starlings and 17 House Finches that came for lunch one day. The raptors were not observed this week and the little Carolina Wrens have gone away. It's nice to have the Red-Winged Blackbirds back! 😀

Just got done entering my counts for Project Feeder Watch week number 16. The data can be seen here:
feederwatch.org/pfw/count/summ
We had 21 species and 96 individuals this week. The counts are down somewhat from previous weeks, probably due to the foul weather in the past few days. Lots of snow and high winds. The Cooper's Hawk continues to take it's toll, with another Junco predation witnessed. No sign of the Red Shouldered Hawk this week.
