President Joe Biden is on track to have appointed more federal judges of color than any U.S. president before him.

NBC News reports: "On Monday, the Senate confirmed Biden’s judicial nominee for the Northern District of Georgia, Tiffany Johnson, making her the 40th Black woman he has appointed to lifetime federal judgeships."

梁鎮罡勝訴後,政府被迫修改政策,容許和梁處境相似、在海外合法締結婚姻的同性配偶享有同等公務員配偶福利;稅務條例中「丈夫」、「妻子」的字眼亦須被「配偶」一詞所取代,以便同性伴侶合併評稅。這並非僅是官方措辭上的微調,更是法律與制度邁向真正平等的關鍵一步。從此之後,若再有同性伴侶在福利、稅務乃至其他公眾領域上要求同等待遇,政府再想故態復萌、以「保護傳統婚姻」或「社會欠缺共識」為由拒絕,也將變得更加困難。

We label disabled people and their needs as "special" to feel better about a world that isn’t inclusive. It sounds like a compliment, but it’s a convenient way to dodge responsibility.

The term “special” often implies something unique or precious. But when applied to disabled people, it becomes a way to separate, isolate, and excuse society’s failure to adapt.
