I thought I had just been explaining that so I was stumped for an answer and struggled to think of a better explanation. I should have just quoted wikipedia, "a muscle-driven mechanical switch between urination and ejaculation" - you can't get much more succinct. It's all just plumbing really.</p>

It is not a diagnostic test.<br>The gold standard test is still a digital rectal examination by someone who's been trained to spot the signs of cancer. This can be followed up with an MRI if there's any suspicious findings.</p><p>Sorry, but I fear that the use of PSA as a screening tool is a way of making money in a profit driven healthcare system.</p><p><a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/prostate" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>prostate</span></a> </p><p>(Retired Healthcare Scientist who performed tens of thousands of PSA Tests and the older Acid Phosphatase test over 40 years).</p>
