So I bought #eldenring in the Steam summer sale, and... I asked for a refund, lamely. Whatever it is FromSoftware does I end up bouncing off it - there's something about their core mechanics that make me want to chew my fingers off.
Might get Dead Space instead... Or a couple of Indies

@DeansofCardiff I’m about to finish Dark Souls Remastered (somehow), but I agree it doesn’t play like anything else. Plus the learning curve is practically vertical.
(I refunded DS2 because the PC port was so awful.)
@waywardpythonttv Too right. I don't mind difficult games - really enjoyed Control which IIRC had no difficulty setting and had some pretty solid boss fights. But Fromsoft is just impenetrable to me. Had similar experiences with DS3 and Bloodborne where I thought I was enjoying them and then just got totally stuck and replayed the same bits for hours and hours. #gitgud
@DeansofCardiff Ah, yes, the Fromsoft repeat, repeat, repeat. If I was in my twenties and not my fifties I’d have quit ages ago. But I’ve learned patience.
What I *do* like is how you learn a little bit more each fight, and you can put that knowledge to use next time around. But that requires application which starts to make it feel like a job.

@DeansofCardiff Maybe. And if it doesn’t, that’s OK too. A year ago I’d have laughed my head off if you’d told me I’d get into these games. Now I’ve got five playthroughs at once on the go.
