Bob Weiss fought in the Battle of Mortain in World War II, one of the pivotal but lesser known battles of the war. He holds the Silver Star, two Purple Hearts, and various other American and French recognitions for his service, including Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur.

Later, Bob would become a mentor and law firm partner to my father, and a good family friend. He now rests in Arlington National Cemetery.
