I don’t know if I wrong, but I often favourite things, and see that not many other people favourite them. I know it won’t feed an algorithm, but to me it’s just an “I like this”.

To me, Favouriting says "I like this" and boosting means "I want everyone to know I like this".

@hmallett I believe most people rather boost a post instead of liking it because that way it also shows up in their followers timeline. So boosting helps a post more than favouriting when it comes to increasing visibility.
But I could also be totally wrong here …
