The Automattic "State of the Word" yearly address is something I never miss, and always benefit from. It's streaming live now.

@tchambers @photomatt according to Matt there's 5k installs, but FediDB showing ~2500. I'm wondering how to improve discoverability (I had to add a few myself manually) - and how to drive installs - according to #SOTW there's not much interest (although Tumblr is next up for #ActivityPub integration) - WP value proposition is not clear, yet.
For me, I'd rather get the blog feed directly than a link via an author's account pulling in a RSS feed and reposting.
@jaz @tchambers @photomatt all stats are not very accurate, because I think the .org stats do not include .com and fediDB does also only have a subset of blogs indexed. But still way below 10.000 I would say.
@pfefferle @tchambers @photomatt I can imagine why it's not appropriate, but maybe a way to tell people who have enabled it on .com accounts to announce their account to a service like FediDB might be nice. I have three .com blogs I had to add manually, I doubt they'd ever be discovered otherwise.
Maybe I'll start yet another list of things so we at least have a directory of blogs to follow.
@jaz @tchambers @photomatt there was a bug, that WordPress.com blogs couldn't be indexed, but @dansup fixed it some hours after I reported it . He also built an API (within some hours) to auto-ping FediDB and we already implemented that in WordPress.com (kind of Ping-O-Matic 2.0).
