It's not perfect but it's moving the right direction.
https://mailbox.org isn't for free, but it allows a contingent of custom domains in its packages and doesn't charge extra per domain. Same for https://tuta.com
I would recommend to use a provider or a packet that isn't for free anyway, since servers and security cost money and otherwise oneself tents to be the product.
@robriley What exactly do you mean? Have you already got your own domain and just want to use it with the new provider? Or do you expect a custom domain from the new provider without extra cost??
@teezeh I already have a domain and I access the mail via Gmail, which Gmail does not charge. When I checked on european-alternatives their free plan doesn't seem to include the ability to use my domain email via their service (if that makes sense)
@robriley Sure, makes sense. I use Mailbox.org (Berlin-based) and pay for it. Their fee is small and worthwile. No extra charge for your using an own domain. Freemail is never free. You just pay differently.
