I think I found the funniest version of "The tortoise and the hare" tale type just now 
From Japan.
It is about a centipede and a slug running a race to a shrine. Obviously the centipede gets there first, but when the slug arrives, centipede is still taking his sandals off, so slug enters the shrine first.
There is also a joke about the time the insects played the birds at football. The insects were losing 3-0 at half time, but then in the 2nd half, they substituted a centipede (Yes, I know, not an insect, but anyway...) who was amazing and they ended up winning 74 -3. The captain of the birds asked why they didn't play the centipede from the start, and the captain of the insects said "Oh it takes him all of the first half to get his boots on...."
