Morning #mastodonians , this might put a cat among the pigeons but what do we all think the etiquette should be on here regarding hitting #boost on lots and lots of posts. I know you can hide reblogs from anyone you follow but I'm wondering what everyone else thinks?
My personal take is it's a bit disruptive to your follower's feeds if you choose to reblog 10+ things in a matter of minutes, as everyone else's posts get pushed down into oblivion!! What do you guys think?
@maddaddam
Boost anything you see that catchs your eye, or you find interesting, or that makes you engage etc Boosting is how it works here, there's no algorithm.
I rely on the people I follow to boost others, so I can find new interesting toots and people.
They're not an equivalent to retweets
@Ohmissusgee I completely agree, but if you hit boost on lots and lots of posts in a very short space of time, you're going to push a lot of other people's content way down in your followers feeds and then they might not get to see that other content! Boost away, but also try to boost in moderation!!
@maddaddam not entirely sure I grasp that, Barnaby, but its obviously something you've given thought to.
Unless you read every toot in on you home tab every day, 'missing out on content' seems pretty normal
