New to me: remarkably subtle phishing attempt. PayPal invoice for something I didn't order. Always suspicious but usually easy to spot the bogus link. No bogus links AFAICT. Everything goes back to actual paypal.com. I'm not clicking on them anyway, of course. I logged into PayPal independently and confirmed there's no such charge. Second message an hour later encouraging me to call them. So what they want to do is get me on the phone. Tricksy.
@ndw Huh, I've seen the first half lots of times (but not in the last year or so) - completely convincing-looking email from Paypal about some sketchy-smelling transaction or other. I log into PayPal to check out, nothing has happened. Never got a follow-up though. No matter how closely I looked at the original email, I couldn't see how it wasn't real… I concluded that someone had to be gaming PayPal.
@timbray The phone number was in the first message, but didn't stand out quite so much. Like you, I assumed someone had gamed PayPal so that one of those long links went through some redirection.
