Just completed Wario Land 4, and it gave me mixed feelings.

First off, the presentation is fantastic! It has some of the prettiest sprite animations I've seen and the sound design is very playful and unique.

It made a few crucial changes to the formula. Wario is no longer immortal so you have to be more careful. There is a new speedrunning aspect to it, because once you "clear the level" you have to run back to the start before the time runs out.

Its focus has changed from the carefree puzzle platforming exploration I loved, Wario has fewer forms you can explore the levels with, so it's not my favorite. But it's quite short and polished, so it's well worth playing.

Trip World is quite unique! It's a platforming game where most enemies don't attack you, only if you do it first.
It controls great and it might very well be the best looking game on Game Boy.
And the best part is you could play it in a sitting, so if you need a good palate cleanser between big games, check it out! It's in the 3DS eShop, which is closing at the end of the month.

Metal Gear Solid on the Game Boy Color is impressive. Great job translating the gameplay to the limited controls, scope, fluid animations and somehow they even made tense music out of the sound chip.

I'm not as fond of the puzzles they've introduced, there's a lot of trial and error and getting lost around the map, but it's worth checking out.

Wow, Kuru Kuru Kururin! It is a racing game where you're controlling a rotating stick through carefully designed levels. It is original, refreshing and really easy to jump in and out of, which suits a portable console really well.

I had seen this game in bargain bins for years but the cover seemed really vague and abstract. Don't be like me, try it out!

Yesterday I completed Donkey Kong for the Game Boy. Don't be fooled, its presentation makes it look like it's just a port of the arcade game, but from the 4th level onward it's a brilliant puzzle platforming game with levels that take about a minute.
It is excellent.

@gamesbymanuel As "pure" ports go, the original Famicom/NES one is essentially arcade-perfect anyway. Adding value with the GB was a smart move.
