In the greenhouse...

Lophophora williamsii, a spineless cactus, also know as peyote, contains mescaline, used for over 5,000 years by indigenous peoples of the Americas for ceremonial, spiritual, and folk medicine purposes.

The flowers are this delicate pink colour and the tufts of woolly hairs on the areoles are adorable.

Last night in the greenhouse...

'Queen of the Night' a night-flowering Cereus though not sure which one. The large (5"-6") flowers start to open late afternoon but are not in their prime until after dark. Then they're over by the morning.

Update

Got some plans to revive this little table with more succulents, yesterday's haul included a bunch of lithops that I am just going to do my best with. This spot is a good one for early sun and the more delicate species like it here.

The cactus in our front yard is blooming. I was just doing some outdoor chores and there was a point of color attracting my attention.

Two years ago we replaced one side of the front lawn with mulch, rock, and cactus to save water and labor. Most of the time I don’t mess with it and ignore it. Crazy cactus.
