@kate @blausand I hear this said a lot, but I honestly have to wonder how true it is in reality. I'm quite a soft guy, and I've never really been chastised for showing softer emotions - and I've definitely been made fun of for showing anger. Maybe I was lucky in my environment, but sometime I can't help but think that it's excuses for emotionally stunted men.
@ChrisWere @kate @blausand It really depends on the luck of who you grow up around. Any display of emotion or vulnerability was, while not explicitly punished, frequently variously ridiculed or used against me.
This was only really coming from adults, my peer group was comparatively tame.
It’s sort of pushed me the opposite direction. While I externally developed a “mask”, I’m good at reading and predicting emotions. (Aiding my conflict avoidance…)
