Welcome to the Boomtown<p>Wakey Wakey! We may be guilty of this. Sure, it enabled me to get that Grand Funk album I'd been hankering for since first hearing "We're An American Band". But then . . . I'd have to buy a bunch of lesser, rando picks (maybe The Guess Who? or BTO? Perhaps a later Sweet rec?) - paying full list price for the privilege. I'd come up short every time.</p>

MDMRN<p>Prior to that, I had only really listened to the radio with my parents. So, only listened to their music. I was 11 by mid-1994 and I wanted to kind of learn my own taste in music. So, this was a perfect chance to do so.</p><p>What about you? Even if you weren't alive or were little in 1994, imagine what CDs you would get at that time.</p><p>Tags: <a href="https://urusai.social/tags/QuestionOfTheDay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>QuestionOfTheDay</span></a> <a href="https://urusai.social/tags/Music" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Music</span></a> <a href="https://urusai.social/tags/90sMusic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>90sMusic</span></a> <a href="https://urusai.social/tags/QoTD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>QoTD</span></a> <a href="https://urusai.social/tags/CD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CD</span></a> <a href="https://urusai.social/tags/ColumbiaHouse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ColumbiaHouse</span></a></p>
Continued thread

Since I asked the question, I should probably answer it. I actually did this around that time as an 11 year old kid. What I did was I had no clue of what was good or not, so I did a smattering of ANYTHING that was popular at the time to try to figure out my taste in music.

Here are some examples:

Ace of Base - The Sign
Boyz II Men - II
Crash Test Dummies - God Shuffled His Feet
Hootie & the Blowfish - Cracked Rear View
Green Day - Dookie
Nirvana - Nevermind
Shaquille O'Neil - Shaq Fu: Da Return

No, I am not kidding.
