A question for poets, picture book authors, or perhaps English majors-- is there something about the rhythm of these particular kids books that makes them tiresome to read?

The content is fine, the art is lovely, and I enjoy reading plenty of other rhyming books. But these ones? So grating to adults. Kids seem to have no problem.

Jon Agee's "Otto: A Palindrama" is a children's comic where every bit of text is a palindrome, which reads the same forward and back. Otto goes on an imaginative adventure to a strange city, where he meets a lot of eccentric people, before ending up back where he started. 💙📚 #bookreview #kidlit

The Doll People by Ann M Martin and Laura Godwin is absolutely adorable! Perfect for a read aloud for ages 5 and up or independent reading for ages 8-12. It is the story of a doll family in a doll house that has been passed on through generations for 100 years. Adventure, mystery, and a ton of fun!

Lion of the Sky by Ritu Hemnani is a middle grade novel told in verse about the partition of India and Pakistan. Through all of the upheaval and loss, Raj is able to find a life after losing everything (even his friends and family) because of Partition. It was beautifully written in a way for young readers to understand and empathize with. Recommend for ages 8-13 or anyone with a love for history.

I am reading Ophie's Ghosts by Justina Ireland right now and so far it's good. Of course, I expect no less out of Ireland. I loved Dread Nation which is a dystopian YA duology. I have the second book and was about to start it last night, but decided I better work my way through my library books. This one is middle grade historical fiction with a supernatural element. Not necessarily an easy read, but an important one. Recommended for ages 9-13, conversation starter.

I've got 2 plots for no man's sky meets lumberjanes

1) these kids crash land. Travel to the main colony pod they got detached from. Only to find its full of children.

Or

2) these kids have to scale a mountain to deploy a transmitter to contact the orbiting sleeper ship .
