Why has SPF become a stand-in for sunscreen/sun cream/sunblock??
The sun protection factor is one aspect of it.
It's not the product itself

Good thing Mr. Solus Spider moved to Polymaths, or your "local" adjective would've been inaccurate. #pedantry
Pedantic side note about the Trump sucking Musk's toe's fake that played in the HUD building the other day. I've seen people on here, and apparently the BlueSky moderators (briefly), claiming it was sexually explicit.
It's literally not. Do you see genitals? I don't see any genitals.
It's sexually IMPLICIT.
That's why it works as mockery. It's a superficially non-sexual act (toe sucking) from which we infer a kinky sexual relationship.
If it's on the highway, it's a cycle *lane*.
A cycle path is an off-highway facility.

@BashStKid This is all very good, and Alice Roberts is a great presenter. But the media's lazy lumping together of archaeology and geology like this #GetsMyGoat

There's a certain kind of pedant who insists that it should be pronounced with [s] as in "sit", but I see no reason why this pronunciation, derived from middle and early modern English spelling, should be regarded as more "correct" than the pronunciation that follows the post 17h century Hellenized spelling and reflects the word's Greek roots.
#Pedantry It's just "Eagles".
Just saying #Pedantry should be one of the Deadly Sins.
Knowing this and assuming you aren’t already completely entranced by the vampire, this is exactly what you need to say. At least that’s what I think. Muster all your willpower and let spill these five words from your lips.

LOVE this site. Spent an embarrassingly long time looking through everything. Do you like #design *and* #pedantry? https://practicaltypography.com/
Periodic reminder: _The Lord of the Rings_ was not a trilogy. It was a single book, initially released under 3 covers for economic reasons, to minimize the publisher's risk in case it didn't do well and to spread out the printing and distribution costs over time.
@countcol
I would contest that because in a large number of those films he is playing the role of Dracula who is already dead

#Pedantry: It is *function-name* overloading; not function overloading. The function name is same across functions but each call resolves to a specific function based on function arguments.
So, what is *overloaded* is the function name. Granted, "function overloading" is easier to say.
I'm gonna set up a bot that just automatically posts a poll every week and auto-blocks everyone who answers by replying that the premise of the question is wrong.
Quick reminder: For something to be called an "anthology", it must consist of stories by *multiple* authors. If it's just one author bundling a bunch of stories together in one volume, that's a "collection", NOT an anthology. :P
Just FYI, "wintry" is the correct spelling of the adjective concerning winter, not "wintery".
Also it's "recurring", not "reoccurring".
And "mischievous", not "mischievious".
Keep it short and simple! :)
Virtuously sitting on my hands all morning while my in-laws discuss my small nephew’s “hummingbird diet.” Accuracy is not the point of this metaphor! No one but me will think it’s funny if I crash into the chat to point out that hummingbirds eat loads of arthropods, especially spiders!
