An analysis of Catullus 46 - a delightful 1st century BC Latin poem about the arrival of spring and the excitement of travel.
If your Latin is a bit rusty or you happen to be a Latin learner, below the poem you’ll find a detailed, verse-by-verse word analysis, along with an English translation.
At the very end of the post there are a few links to additional resources on Catullus, and the context of this particular poem.
Ex flammīs jam renāta
Per saecula trānsībit,
Undīs nāvigābit temporis
Nam sī flūctuat illa,
Numquam tamen mergitur
Cathedrālis Nostrae Dominae.
In my defence, I did have interests in history and philosophy, but... yeah, linguae Latinae discendi mihi non multum utilis fuit. *lol* Not useful at all these days, in fact, aside from an occasional bad Internet joke.

#Salvete omnes! Nomen mihi est Daniel. Linguis Latinae et Graecae studui in universitate Batava. Praeterea clavichordio cano et placet mihi ludos diversos agere.
Gaudeo hunc in locum advenire. Spero me multis cum hominibus collocuturum esse de variis rebus!

My first 'unboxing' post is up on the blog! Not reviewing a high-tech gadget but a #breviary. To each his own, I guess
Hashtags as #introduction dump, because I didn't like the aesthetic of them in my profile:

After a week of Latin study (after two decades away) I've probably learned a few new words and seem to remember the noun declensions somewhat... those were always the hardest for me. A lot of times, I could read the Latin sentence and translate it fine, but still couldn't tell you what was the nominative, genitive, dative, etc. I think it will help to learn not having to do the nightmarish weekly Latin test! #LinguaLatina
One of my favourite Latin dictionary definitions (don't you have a favourite?) is for Undecember, the humourous name of the month after December.
I'll finish my to do list in Tredecember.
From the Oxford Latin Dictionary, apparently recorded in the Corpus inscriptionum Latinarum (ref. CIL 5.suppl.ital.898).
