UN experts warn of legal uncertainty and rights implications following UK Supreme Court ruling, says The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR, or UN Human Rights).

#Israel announces it will withdraw from #UN human rights council
Israel has informed the United Nations #humanrights council (#OHCHR) it is formally withdrawing from the body.

In a message posted to social media, Reuters reports foreign minister Gideon Saar said “The decision was reached in light of the ongoing and unrelenting institutional bias against Israel in the human rights council, which has been persistent since its inception in 2006.”

Early in the Israel-#Gaza conflict the OHCHR said that “there is already clear evidence that #warcrimes may have been committed in the latest explosion of violence in Israel and Gaza.”

UN report deplores 'rapid deterioration' of rights in West Bank

Volker Turk, the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, said the use of unnecessary or disproportionate force against Palestinians in the West Bank was "extremely troubling".

The #OHCHR said it had also recorded mass arbitrary detentions, unlawful detentions and cases of reported torture and other forms of ill-treatment of Palestinian detainees. It said some 4,785 Palestinians had been detained in the West Bank since Oct. 7.
